Biotechnologies applied to food are constantly evolving. They encompass a set of technologies that aim to improve the quality and control of food, whether processed or unprocessed. The research work carried out within the division focuses on the characterization of Algerian genetic resources to produce biomolecules of food interest and at the same time, on the development of new tools based on modern biotechnologies in order to ensure the quality control and authentication of food. The main objective of the division is to maximize the use of genetic resources and advances in biotechnology to guarantee healthy, authentic and quality foods, while meeting the specific needs of the agri-food sector.
