Algal Metabolomics 2024

Omics of Algae Group ICGEB, New Delhi, will organize an international course/workshop on “ALGAL METABOLOMICS 2024” 25th-31st March 2024. This course will offer theoretical and hands-on training in advanced analytical instrumentation, such as a mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approach to identify specific metabolites, which will lead to the production of biofuels and high-value biorenewables by the valorization of carbon dioxide (CO2) in these algal cell factories. Meetings and Courses Call for Proposals

ICGEB provides support for the organisation of scientific events in the Life Sciences in ICGEB Member States. Funding is available for Meetings, to be held in the three ICGEB Components (Trieste, Italy; New Delhi, India; Cape Town, South Africa); Theoretical and Practical events to be co-sponsored by local organising institutions; “Seeds for Science” supports small meetings aimed at building networks for future research collaborations. Sponsorship is also provided to scientific events relevant to the ICGEB mandate in the ICGEB Member States. Read More..

Arturo Falaschi Conference “Advances in prostate and cervical cancer research”

Nearly 10 million people died from cancer in 2020. The disease incidence is increasing for several reasons: an aging population – most of the people diagnosed with cancer are older than 60; dietary changes; tobacco and alcohol use; and lack of physical activity. Cancer-causing infections, such as human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis are also important drivers of increased cancer incidence. Globally, prostate cancer is is the second most common cancer. Among African men, it is ranked 1st in both incidence and mortality. Growing knowledge of human genetics is changing the way physicians and researchers approach both the diagnosis and the treatment of cancer. Genomic information about prostate cancer is leading to better diagnoses and treatment strategies. Lire la suite..

ICGEB Board meets in South Africa to discuss future steps in Biotechnology

The ICGEB is an intergovernmental organisation that plays a key role in promoting Biotechnology research excellence, training and technology transfer to industry for the benefit of humanity. It held its first in-person Board of Governors meeting since the pandemic on 10-11 May 2023 in Cape Town. Focused on world-leading quality research, training and technology transfer in infectious and non-communicable diseases, medical, industrial and plant biotechnology, with laboratories across three Continents, the session was attended by over 180 participants, including representatives from 55 Member States, Observer Countries from the industrialised and developing worlds, and 10 partner Multilateral Organisations. Min. Jelena Begovic, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, was elected President of the Board, effective 1 January 2024. A molecular biologist Min. Begovic has been long associated with the ICGEB, and acknowledged the fast developing challenges in biotechnology, including Artificial Intelligence, “to address and communicate in years to come,” considering “ICGEB one of the best Organisations to do this.” Read more …..

Dans le but de promouvoir la collaboration, la formation de jeunes scientifiques et le développement d’établissements de recherche, le Centre International de Génie Génétique et de Biotechnologie « “ICGEB “ a le plaisir d’annoncer l’ouverture de l’appel à projets du Programme de Recherche Collaboratif (CRP) pour l’année 2023.
