El Nasr Newspaper Article: Biotechnology Research Center- Constantine- Develops World-First Bio-Chips

May 5, 2024

Professor Ammar Azioune, Director of the Biotechnology Research Center in Constantine, announced the development of new bio-chips, the first of their kind in the world, able to carry multiple types of cells. This announcement was made during the first edition of the international hybrid symposium on the analysis of performance indicators of business incubators in Algeria.
Students, researchers, and engineers at the center collaborated to develop this innovative technology, aiming to overcome the limitations of existing biotechnology. Current bio-chips only carry one type of cell, while the new chips developed by the center can carry multiple types, offering increased possibilities for pharmaceutical research.
Two students involved in this project have created a start-up, labeled as a “start-up” on March 27, which will soon begin the production and commercialization of these bio-chips. The chips will allow for drug testing using patients’ cells, providing more accurate results and alternatives to animal testing.
