The Biotechnology Research Center (CRBt) is a scientific and technological establishment that is affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS).

It is the only governmental institution in Algeria that is dedicated to implementation of research and technological development programs in the field of biotechnology for the promotion of human and animal health, food security and environmental surveillance and protection.
It has been operational since May 2010
